The Annual Sun Dance was held as scheduled at Lame Deer but by Abraham Spottedelk of Lame Deer as the sponsor, not Frank Redcherries. The ceremonial was held on the old sun dance grounds. Some of the dancers are; John Redbreath, Harry Risingsun, James Clubfeet, David L. Whiteman, Jack Bad Horse, Martin Killsnight, Jr., Abraham Spottedelk and Frank Redcherries. The attendants were Winfield Woundedeye, Clifford Russell, Willie Rising sun, Aron L. Whiteman, Charlie Whitedirt, Albert Tallbull, James Bies, Jr., James Ant, Roy Bullcoming and John Firewolf. The woman attendant to the Medicine woman is Nellie Prairie Pear. Some Arapahos, Crows, Gros Ventres, Southern Cheyennes and Sioux were visitors.

The Arapahos in the Wind River reservation in Wyoming will held the air annual Sun Dance July 22-26, in conjunction with the Arapaho Pow-Wow at Arapaho, Wyoming. The Shavehead and Medicinebull family have left to Riverton, Wyo with the V. Sittingeagles.

Glenn L. Emmons, Commissioner of Indian Affairs with Mr. Don Y. Jonson, John Woodenlegs and two other officials were in Birney Tuesday JulyI4, presumably on an inspection tour of the Tongue River reservation. Reports say George Elkshoulder and Fred Medicinebull are to be appointed as straw bosses for firefighting crews from Birney when called.

Thomas Hardground has accepted summer employment as fire lookout for the Indian Forest Service stationed at the Badger Peak lookout tower.

Fr. Peter John Powell of Chicago, Ill. A friend of the Cheyennes was among the visitors of the Sun Dance at Lame Deer.

Some Birney people took in the rodeo in Sheridan July 17-19. Taking part in the parade and Indian dances promising the Cowboy Days and Indian Nights.

Miles Horn and D. Hollowbrest were the tow Indians participating in the Outdoor Art Show in Sheridan as among thirty odd white people. Jim Ryan, Floyd Alderson, Teddy Jones and Jack Carrel are the artists from Birney. D. Hollowbrest exhibited pen-ink drawings. Tilted "Head start Travois, "Crow War Dance" and "Crow Indian Relay Race". The art show was sponsored by the Sheridan Artists Guild.

Mr. James Palmer spent the weekend in Birney, and has returned to Billings.

Mrs. Norma coon, the Adult Education teacher of the Tongue River reservation is in Dillon attending 6 weeks summer school July 6-Aug I4 and then to Havre for BIA Workshop for two weeks and to be back in time for the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Fair. Aug 3I. It is expected to the tribal members will get their entries ready for the fair at Lame Deer.

The 4-H club leader George Hardground says the club members reporting and wanting chickens will receive their chickens on July 21-22 and the 4-H club meeting will be held July 29.

Mrs. Margot Liberty and George Hardground attended the Chiefs’ meeting in Ashland at Henry Little coyote’s home Sunday July I2. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the missing scalps believed sold by the previous keeper of the Sacred Hat, Ernest American Horse without authorization from the Chiefs.

Mrs. Ellen Medicinebull is in Busby attending to her father, James King fisher who is reported sick and that he is beyond help by the doctor. Or was ignored. James Kingfisher suffered stoke after an accidental fall.

The National Indian Encampment is been held at Pendleton, Oregon this week in connection with the Centennial Celebration of the enactment of the Stevens Treaty and Oregon’s Centennial Celebration. The Umatilla and Nez Perce Indian are co-hosts of the Encampment. T

Ted Bison with his family left recently for the Southern Cheyenne agency, Concho and Hammon, Okla. to attend to business at that agency leaving George Elkshoulder looking after the duties of the Chief of Police.
